Yulia Belarukova from Russia won the first Sprint competition in Ruka. Maja Dahlqvist came second 1.12 seconds behind Belarukova. Third place went to Ida Ingemarsdotter.

The competition was full of drama. At the last curve the strong favourite Stina Nilsson tripped and fell down and lost her top position. Last years Sprint Cup winner Maiken Caspersen Falla was fourth. Krista Pärmäkoski placed fifth, before Nilsson.

There were also surprises in the qualification. Heidi Weng and Jessica Diggins didn’t make it to the finals.

Ladies Cross-Country World-Cup continues at Ruka Nordic on Sunday with 10km classic style race.
