Sweden’s new superstar Linn Svahn opened her season by winning women’s sprint in Ruka World Cup. At only 20 years of age, Svahn has made an impressive breakthrough and is already a big name in the history of skiing. Svahn’s thrive has been very interesting to follow during the past year.

Breakthrough of the Year

Svahn competed in the World Cup for the first time at Falun in March 2019 and finished 21st in the freestyle skiing sprint. She won her first World Cup event on December 14th, 2019. Last season Svahn won three events and the Sprint Cup in the 2019-2020 season. This young promise is only the second Swedish woman to achieve this. 

After last season this rising star won the “Breakthrough of the Year” and “Ladies of the Year” awards at the Skidsnack gala on Expressen TV in Sweden. Although this young blue eyed beauty is quite unknown to many of us; she has often been speculated to be related to another Swedish ski legend Gunde Svan.

Triple victory for Sweden

Ruka Nordic’s Friday was a great season opening for the Swedish team in Ruka. Sweden can now celebrate a triple victory: Svahn’s teammates Maja Dahlqvist and Jonna Sundling came as runner-ups.
